Global Gilbert & Sullivan Weekend
This year’s Gilbert & Sullivan weekend will take us to the pretty resort of Grange-over-Sands; a quiet seaside resort with an Edwardian flavour, situated on the southern tip of the Cartmel peninsula, between the mountains and the sea and only seven miles from Windermere.
We will stay in the beautiful Netherwood Hotel and Spa, a Grade II listed Victoria mansion house which offers the perfect combination of olde-worlde charm and essential modern facilities.
We have a fun-filled, forty-hour programme which includes Friday night entertainment with Festival favourite, Ian Belsey and a Saturday evening concert presented by two local G&S societies.
Come along and join us. Meet old friends and make new ones in Grange. But please note that rooms (particularly single rooms) are limited and bookings will be on a “first come” basis.
We look forward to seeing you soon.

Following breakfast we climb aboard our coach and head out to the picturesque village of Cartmel, the home of the world-famous Cartmel priory.
The ancient village of Cartmel is situated in a quiet valley of Cumbria, in one of the country’s most untouched areas of natural beauty. Venturing into the village you will find the impressive medieval Cartmel Gatehouse, built in 1330 and the market square, where a stop by the Cartmel Village Shop is essential to sample its famous sticky toffee pudding.
Exploring the Priory is different for everyone. Some visitors marvel at the ancient architecture, some discover hidden mysteries within its motifs and carvings, others just sit and absorb the Priory’s peaceful atmosphere.
Over the centuries the Priory has witnessed war, peace, raids and ruin, but still remains a building of greatness and enduring beauty. A story 800 years in the writing, still being written today.
You will have the chance to explore the priory and gift shop and walk into the village itself where you can sample the famous Sticky Toffee Pudding.
We finish the weekend with a traditional Sunday lunch back in the hotel at 12.30pm and bid goodbye, refreshed by excellent entertainment and great company.
